FAQ
CSV and PDF files. Discovery Bank statements are recognised straight away. For another bank's CSV you match the columns once and Warren remembers them. A PDF needs real text you can select (a scan or photo won't work); Warren checks every row against the statement's running balance and tells you when something doesn't add up.
You see a review screen before anything is saved. Refunds, transfers between your own accounts and expenses you already have are sorted out for you, and a locked PDF asks for its password, which is never stored.
All your expenses as a CSV file (date, amount, currency, category, subcategory and note) for any dates you choose. It opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets.
Bank statements are read on your phone or computer; the file is never uploaded. Your expenses are stored in Zurich, Switzerland, every expense is locked to your login, and the accounts that run Warren use two-factor sign-in. Nobody reads your spending, and it's never sold or shared. You can export or delete everything yourself in Settings. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
No. Warren never asks for your bank login and never connects to your bank. You type expenses in, or import a statement you downloaded yourself.
Warren is a web app, so there's nothing to find in an app store. Add it to your Home Screen and it opens full screen with its own icon, like any other app.
Any. You choose your country and currency in Settings. Warren suggests a category from the shop's name, with built-in shop lists for South Africa and for well-known global brands, and you can teach it your own.
It stays in your account, so you can come back to it, and you can delete your account and everything in it at any time. The Terms of Service have the details.
Warren was built and is run by a remote, solo developer, Martin.
